Welcome to Year 6 - Tim Peake Class

Class Teacher: Miss Chadwick


Term 1 & 2

The primary topic is Geography exploring Brazil and the Amazon Rainforest. This interlinks with the class book The Explorer by Katherine Rundell which is set in the Amazon Rainforest.

Term 3

The primary topic is History focusing upon The British Empire and Slavery. This interlinks with the class book The Journey Back To Freedom by Catherine Johnson based on a true story.

Term 4 & 5

The primary topic is History focusing upon Civil rights movements in the USA highlighting of the influence and progress made by Rosa Parks and Martin Luther King.

Our Class book is Letters from the Lighthouse by Emma Carroll. It is set during WW2 following two children who were evacuated from London after the bombing raids and the disappearance of their sister.

Term 6

The topics include History focusing upon the Windrush generation, Geography exploring co-ordinates and map skills, along with revisiting Science knowledge previously covered to develop investigation and practical skills.

Our Class book is The Final Year by Matt Goodfellow. This poetry novel explores the journey of a year 6 pupil including changes, challenges and processing the transition to secondary school.


Please read at least 4 times a week alongside your child. Log-in details are provided for completing exercises on Spelling Shed, TT Rock Stars and Purple Mash. Homework will be set on a weekly basis to support the end of year assessments.
