Writing and SPaG

Two a week!

Today, we launch Two a week!  We would like you to write two pieces of writing a week and then send them to your class teacher via the class emails.  We would like one piece by Wednesday and another by Friday.  Throughout the website you will find boxes with ideas for short and extended writing tasks, or one of those tasks could be the weekly writing challenge.  We would like one short and one extended task a week (in any order - or two extended tasks if you wish).

The task should match your learning age - a short task in Year 1 might be writing a list, whilst in Year 6 it could be answering several questions.  You don't need to finish a task in one day: you could write a paragraph a day for an extended text and send us the finished text on a Friday.  Good luck!

Welcome

A huge, massive, colossal, gigantic, immense, mammoth (I love a synonym) welcome to the writing page. On here will be a weekly writing challenge for KS1 and KS2 - below . Please also spend time learning your spellings, practising your SPaG (spelling, punctuation and grammar) skills and perfecting your cursive handwriting (KS1 -try and do daily).

What I do highly recommend though (as I’m currently doing it also), is that you regularly write a journal/diary about your feelings, what you’ve been doing, future plans and what you are thankful for. By writing these things down, it not only makes you feel better if you’re feeling a bit sad or anxious, but this is an extraordinary time in our lives (and this year will probably be learnt about in future history lessons) and having your thoughts and feelings of this time will be interesting to read back on in years to come. You may even show your own children/grandchildren in the future.

I hope you have a great deal of fun writing and learning. Remember to send any work to your teachers (using the class email addresses) so they can see your hard work.

Take care and stay safe,

Miss Richardson
