Early Years

Welcome to Becket Primary School Pre School and Nursery

Our brand new Early Years unit opened in September 2015 and provides children with the highest quality early years provision on the site of Becket Primary School. We are extremely proud of the relationships that are cultivated here at Becket Primary School. Children, their parents and visitors tell us that the strength of these relationships is one of the many things they value about us. Our new provision will continue to promote these values by placing relationships with children and parents at the centre of our ethos.

We want to give every child the best possible start to their learning journey. We offer meaningful, hands on experiences that excite and engage children and appeal to their interests. Our beautiful new environment provides a calm, safe place for children to learn and develop through play, to begin exploring the world around them and to make meaningful relationships with their friends and key adults.

Our Aims

We aim to provide a caring, nurturing and stimulating environment where children can thrive in their earliest years. A place where children will learn and grow happily and securely.

We aim to give every child the same opportunity to engage in a well-balanced and stimulating range of activities that meet their individual needs. Early Years Teachers and Practitioners observe children regularly to ensure activities are developmentally appropriate and challenging.

We aim to build strong relationships with parents and carers. As a child’s first educator we recognise the importance of parents and practitioners working together and offer many opportunities for parents to become involved in their child’s Nursery and Pre School experience

One of our key aims is to develop early language skills and so every opportunity to model and build on children’s language is taken. Highly skilled staff provide a language rich environment where stories, songs and rhymes are plentiful. Children are encouraged to talk and share their ideas with others. They develop the skills to express their thoughts and feelings through meaningful activities which excite and engage them.
